Janis brings her business and psychology background, lived experience, and innate creativity to
every coaching conversation.
Prior to becoming a certified coach, Janis pioneered ‘farm to table’ restaurant concepts and
developed heritage designated properties. She operated her gourmet restaurant called
Calories, in Saskatoon for over 20 years. The restaurant remains a sought out local favourite.
Janis is committed to helping people and organizations thrive, not just survive. While Janis’s
coaching style is intuitive and empathetic, she will not hesitate to ask the tough questions, shine
a light on self-sabotage or provide strategic advice when doing so is of service to her clients.
Janis is a graduate of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division; holds a Bachelor of
Business Administration from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business; a
graduate certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University; and a Masters in
Counselling from Santa Clara University. Janis served for many years on national and local
boards including Restaurants Canada and Tourism Saskatoon.
Janis launched her independent coaching practice, prior to moving the Bay Area of California in
2017. There she worked for Stanford University’s BeWell program, where she both advised and
coached a diverse clientele under a wellness lens. Returning to Saskatoon during the pandemic,
Janis became the Director of the YWCA Saskatoon’s Employment & Learning Centre, stepping
down from that role to spearhead the PowerUp Program in support of Women Entrepreneurs.
